Is a guide ring a seal?

No. It aligns the metal parts and takes side load. Pressure is held by the rod or piston seal.

Rod guide or piston guide?

Match the series to the housing — rod guides sit in the head, piston guides on the piston. Use the recorded ID, OD and H.

Hydraulic guiding elements

Guide rings (wear rings) keep the rod and piston centered so metal does not rub the barrel or the gland. They take side load; they are not the pressure seal.
